Thieving Bastards IV: The Colossal Waste of Time

Photobucket

Finally, fuelled by blind rage and in spite of sanity and the desire to not waste my life, I've caught up with the present in my compulsive searching of literally every photo I've ever put in this blog.

You'll notice this is an extremely slim version compared to earlier ones, which is most likely the calm before the shitstorm as the Asian travel industry gradually uncovers my photos of places they can't be arsed to send a photographer to themselves and spread them around. Or it could just be that my photos are no longer of any value now I've exhausted the major tourist traps.

A high proportion of these travel company sites and blog posts are from November 2012, so they wouldn't even have existed if I'd done this a couple of weeks ago, and there'll doubtless be new ones springing up even as I type this. If I do waste another weekend searching for new (s)hits, it won't be for at least a couple of years.

Please don't take this lapse in vigilance as an excuse to use my photos for your own nefarious commercial purposes. Like you ever needed an excuse to steal someone's intellectual property, you stinking, cheating, lying, thieving poos!

South Korea (cont)

A childish day out again again again again again again (again) (Tuesday, March 27, 2012)

A couple of Korean fan-fic writers have used my pictures of popular teen hangout Lotte World to illustrate their soppy tales. They're welcome, as long as I don't have to read them.

Macaques all, folks! (Thursday, April 5, 2012)

This post was a compilation of 'hilarious' monkey photos from previous blogs, and I've covered most of the thefts before. So here's a compilation of 'hilarious'/smutty image galleries that have mistaken my innocent photos for porn, or just made weird mistakes generally.

Japan

Well, Fukuoka too! (Wednesday, April 11, 2012)

Just one crappy wallpaper site. I guess no one else was interested in my dingy, rain-sodden photos of Fukuoka.

Photobucket

You know people actually read these reviews, right? (Tuesday, April 17, 2012)

A photo of me at Soka Indah Guesthouse is appropriated as an image of Camera Indah Guesthouse. They're not the same place. It's the incompetent ones that annoy me the most.

Photobucket

All the Dazaifu lives (Friday, April 20, 2012)

My final stop in Japan the first time round, and finally an immoral travel company does me the credit of stealing one of my pictures to sell their stuff.

Photobucket

Hey ma look, it's me! (Sunday, April 29, 2012)

Photobucket

Another compilation, I'd image-searched all these photos before in their original incarnations but a few new turds popped up and some of the original ones weren't there any more. Keeping track of all these is a literally impossible task.

Photobucket

This is the weirdest one - some Russian travel website, for unknown reasons, has cropped and Photoshopped a photo of me and a random guy. I guess they were drawn to the beard.

Thailand

Bye bye baby (Saturday, May 5, 2012)

Oh, fantastic. My photos from Bangkok's Siriraj Medical Museum were clearly too morbidly fascinating for people not to steal. I wasn't supposed to take photos in the first place (I was eventually caught by an armed security guard), so maybe this is fair. This is steadily becoming my most popular post with more than 3,500 hits, so this will only get worse in the future.

Pelauts, Pic2fly and Pixmule are all depressingly familiar and may just be automated. The rest know what they're doing, but don't know how to credit their sources. I've crossed paths with the KMLE Korean Medical Dictionary before, I hope their surgeons are more professional than whatever clown manages their website.

Sri Lanka

My wife loves your city (Wednesday, May 16, 2012)

An asshole travel company and a news website in a language so obscure, Google didn't even offer to translate it for me. Probably Sinhalese.

Photobucket

Citadel (Wednesday, May 30, 2012)

Users Nalin Karunathilaka and Lan Yuan uploaded a load of my Anuradhapura photos to Qiito, some kind of location-based site I've never heard of, as if they were theirs. Thanks for giving me more work, bastards.

Bodhi langurage (Friday, June 1, 2012)

Travel company.

Into the lion's den (Tuesday, June 5, 2012)

Ideal Bride Magazine are thieving twats.

Photobucket

I (don't) have the powerrrrrr (Sunday, June 10, 2012)

What use is this to anyone?

Photobucket

Japan again

Another totally disgusting museum (Sunday, July 1, 2012)

Photobucket

My sneaky photo of a Japanese woman made it to a Macedonian list of the world's weirdest museums. These lists are usually disappointingly tame and miss out some of the weird ones I've been to, so it's nice to see them putting in some effort and not just re-posting something by a hack Cracked.com columnist who's never left their home state.

Photobucket

The Russian one was published eight months before I even went there, but that is my photo. The only explanations are that the photographer coincidentally snapped these test tubes from the same angle and with the same lighting as I did, or it was time travel. Either that or Blogger users have the facility to edit posts later on, though that seems a bit far-fetched.

Maid in Japan (Monday, July 9, 2012)

A French blogger used my photo of the exterior of a maid cafe in Akihabara despite apparently going there. Take your camera next time.

Photobucket

A childish day out again again again again again again again again (Wednesday, July 11, 2012)

A Dutch person took my photo of a caged panda chomping some bamboo to illustrate their travels in Japan and Hong Kong. My guess is they just never left Dutchland. Wherever that is.

Photobucket

Kyoto-tal recall (Monday, July 16, 2012)

The internet is run by horny morons.

Photobucket

Geisha not from around here (Wednesday, July 18, 2012)

Seriously, will you guys fuck off?

Photobucket

Just as sloshed as Schlegel (Friday, July 20, 2012)

Do my Kyoto blogs have a virus or something? Or do I just need to stop making provocative descriptions of statues?

Photobucket

South Koreagain

The tale of Mr Toilet (Wednesday, August 1, 2012)

A couple of Italian websites used my photo in their arbitrary mention of the Suwon Toilet Museum. They give credit to 'Republic' - whether that's some kind of news source or means the Republic of Korea in general I don't know. Next time you want to write about something on the other side of the world from a second hand source, please credit my photo.

China

Hong Kong - The Edinburgh of the East (Sunday, August 19, 2012)

The least worst photo I managed to take during the Establishment Day fireworks celebration is now trapped on an inaccessible and dangerous website. If you go near to it, it explodes.

Photobucket

Where's my goddamn escalator? (Tuesday, August 21, 2012)

Photobucket

Well, that about wraps it up for Earth (Wednesday, August 29, 2012)

A lazy Philippines travel company and a supernatural/non-specific blog helped themselves.

Photobucket

You can Canton me (Saturday, September 1, 2012)

No one informed me about this name change, but that's my face so it must be true. Now I have to change my passport and everything. Bloody hell.

Photobucket

The dark side of Macau (Monday, September 10, 2012)

My photo from the Mount Fortress is seemingly being used to illustrate every business premises in Macau, even those that (presumably) aren't armed with cannons.

Photobucket

Thailand again

Paradise is overrated (Monday, September 24, 2012)

I was going to stop at the second anniversary mark, but I'm glad I kept going so I could see this. How nice! Thanks, Tam Bara. Sorry I couldn't be much help with the ornithology.

Laos

Sploosh! (Tuesday, October 9, 2012)

Photobucket

This mademoiselle took loads of photos from her Luang Prabang trip, but I guess she was lacking that one, dull photo from the top of the waterfall. You made the arduous trip, you deserve it!

Photobucket

I don't know what this is though.

Thieving Bastards IV: The Colossal Waste of Time (Wednesday, November 21, 2012)
